Is pumpkin powder the same as canned pumpkin?Updated 7 days ago
Not quite — while both are made from pumpkin, there are important differences between pumpkin powder and canned pumpkin. Our pumpkin powder is made from the pumpkin pulp (the flesh), which is naturally rich in fibre and gentle on digestion.
Pumpkin powder vs canned pumpkin:
- Pumpkin powder is the dried, ground pulp of the pumpkin. It’s lightweight, concentrated, and shelf-stable, making it easy to measure and store.
- Canned pumpkin is cooked pumpkin purée with high water content. It can deliver similar digestive benefits but doesn’t keep as long once opened and is heavier to store.
Practical benefits of powder:
- Easy to scoop and mix into food.
- Longer shelf life compared to canned pumpkin.
- Consistent, measured servings every time.
Note on pumpkin seeds:
Some pet supplements marketed as “pumpkin” are made from the seeds, not the pulp. Seeds are higher in protein and fat but much lower in fibre, which means they don’t provide the same digestive or anal gland support. Always check the label to be sure you’re buying pumpkin pulp if fibre and gut health are the goal.
Pumpkin powder and canned pumpkin are similar because they both come from the pumpkin pulp. The difference is convenience and storage — pumpkin powder is a lightweight, shelf-stable way to get the same digestive benefits every day.
